Terms of use
Effective date: June 2026
These terms set out the rules for using makemesustainable.com. By visiting the site or using its calculators, you agree to them. If anything below is unclear, use the contact form.
What the site is
makemesustainable provides free calculators that estimate home energy costs, savings, and household carbon footprints from published data sources and the figures you enter. How each number is produced is documented on the methodology page.
Estimates, not quotes or advice
Every figure the calculators produce is an informational guide, nothing more. In particular:
- Not a quote or a bill.Estimates are built from average published rates and typical appliance figures. Your utility's actual tariff, fees, and taxes will differ. Always confirm real prices with your utility or supplier.
- Not professional advice. Nothing on this site is financial, tax, legal, or engineering advice. For decisions such as electrical work, heating system changes, or major purchases, consult a qualified professional.
- Not a guarantee of savings. Savings figures describe typical outcomes reported by the cited sources. Your home, climate, and usage will produce different results.
Information accuracy
We build the calculators on published data sources and refresh them on the cadence described on the methodology page, but published rates and factors change and figures on this site may lag their sources. We make reasonable efforts to keep the data current and correct, and we fix errors when they are reported.
Your use of the site
You agree not to:
- Scrape or copy the site's content in bulk.
- Present the site's estimates as official quotes, certifications, or endorsements.
- Use the site to distribute malware, spam, or unlawful content.
Intellectual property
The makemesustainable name, written content, calculators, site design, and code belong to the site's operator. You may share and link to any page. You may not republish the site's content without written permission.
The underlying public data (for example, government energy statistics) belongs to its publishers and is credited on the methodology page. Citing a government source identifies where a figure comes from; it does not mean that source endorses this site.
Third-party websites
Links to data sources and other external sites are provided for reference. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of any third-party site.
No warranty
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, about the accuracy, availability, or fitness for purpose of the site or any estimate it produces.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, makemesustainable and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from your use of the site or from decisions made on the basis of its estimates.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top of this page will change when we do.
