when i write, i write from a place of discovery. i believe firmly in truth. i don’t “arrive at” conclusions, i come to realizations. i don’t develop hypotheses, i attempt to articulate chunks of a divine truth that exist a priori. sometimes, after reading a thesis of a theorist, or the words of a great teacher, or thinking long about the meaning of collection of data, the feeling of “this is true” overwhelms me. it is a light switch--yes or no. i feel it or i do not. however that is not to say that the words of a thesis themselves represent or communicate truth. they do not and can never. this feeling of realization is the feeling of transcendence, extending the radius of my sphere of understanding. of course, my sphere is never as big as it needs to be. were it, i would be enlightened. truly, i am not.

i wish there was an "other" box after "interested in"...so i could check it, and fill in "burritos."
