About

Are you ready for some friendly competition in the name of Earth Day? From April 21st through May 1st at 12:01 AM (EST), MMS will hold an official “Earth Week Challenge”. The competition will focus on participants’ ability to effect change in their communities and reward the top 3 carbon trees with $100 American Express Cards (hopefully to be used towards sustainable ends). Good luck and contact the MMS team if you have any questions.

Updates Update

Tips to Growing Your Carbon Tree: 1) Use our new invite functionality @ MMS Invite and click on Import Contacts From Your Address Book (to upload contacts from Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, etc.) 2) You can also use our Facebook Application to grow your Carbon Tree. Use your invitees wallboards on their profiles to encourage them to reduce their footprint and mobilize their communities to do the same - your carbon tree will track your collective progress. 3) MMS will also make html badges available upon request for participants to embed in their blogs, websites, etc. to drive awareness and grow their carbon trees. An example of an active badge can be found on Jose Gonzalez' page - to request a badge email the MMS team by clicking on contact us.

I just used my $100 card to purchase 10 tons of carbon offsets. Great effort everyone - now 184 tons reduced and counting...

We are in the midst of a major paradigm shift (at least I hope we are) and we will need to have persistence and strength to push the movement forward.

It isn't a panacea, but carbon labels on products could make a world of difference for consumers wanted to shop responsibly.
